Custom Fields

Create extra fields when Repair Pilot’s standard fields do not capture the information your team needs. Custom fields can be added to supported areas such as jobs, customers, items, parts, suppliers and leads.

Before you start #

  • Decide which area should contain the information and what staff need to record.
  • For a dropdown, prepare the choices you want staff to use.
  • Use an account with permission to manage settings.
1

Open Custom Fields #

From Settings, open Fields & Forms, then choose Custom Fields.

Custom Fields settings with an expanded module
2

Choose the module #

Expand the area where the field belongs. The page groups fields by module and shows how many are configured there.

3

Add or edit a field #

Use Add Custom Field to create one, or expand a module and choose Edit beside an existing field. Complete the name, type and any options shown on the form.

4

Set availability and order #

Use the field switch to enable or disable it, and drag its handle to change the order. These changes save immediately, so check carefully before changing visibility or order.

What happens next #

The field is available in the module you selected. Staff can use it on the relevant records when it is enabled.

Common questions #

Can I change a field later? #

Yes. Return to Custom Fields, expand its module and select Edit.

Do order and visibility changes need a separate save? #

No. The settings page says switches and ordering save immediately.

Where do I change built-in fields? #

Use the guide Editing the Default Fields.
