Before you start #
You need access to the QuickBooks Online company you want to connect. Connecting opens an authorisation flow. Choose sync options carefully because they can affect live accounting records.
Open QuickBooks settings #
Go to Settings → QuickBooks Online.
Connect QuickBooks Online #
Select the connection link and follow the QuickBooks authorisation prompts.
Choose sync options #
Enable the integration and choose whether to sync customers, invoices and payments.
Set the invoice trigger #
Choose the invoice status that should trigger sync. The page notes that unsynced invoices are sent after saving in that status and historical invoices are not backfilled.
Choose a sales item #
Select the QuickBooks service or non-inventory item to use for invoice lines. Create one in QuickBooks first if the list is empty.
Map tax and payment methods #
Open Tax Settings and Payment Method Settings and map these to your QuickBooks values.
Save #
Review the settings, then select Save.
What happens next #
Future eligible invoices and selected customer/payment data sync according to the options you enabled. Check both Repair Pilot and QuickBooks after setup.
Common questions #
Will saving backfill old invoices?
No. The settings page says historical invoices are not backfilled.
Why is there no sales item to choose?
Create a service or non-inventory item in QuickBooks, then return to the integration settings.
