# Removing/Deactivating a user

Deactivate a user when they should no longer sign in to Repair Pilot. You can reactivate an inactive account later.

## Before you start

- Use deactivation when access should be stopped but you may need to restore the account later.
- Deactivation is available from the user list's Actions menu.

1

### Open Users

Go to **Settings → Users**.

2

### Choose the account

Find the staff member and open the **Actions** menu on their row.

3

### Deactivate the account

Choose **Deactivate User** and confirm if Repair Pilot asks you to.

4

### Reactivate when needed

For an inactive user, open **Actions** and choose **Reactivate User**.

## What happens next

The user's state changes to inactive. The user remains listed in Manage Users and can be reactivated from the same Actions menu.

## Common questions

**Does deactivating delete the user?**
No. The account is marked inactive; it remains listed and the Actions menu offers Reactivate User.

**Can an inactive user be restored?**
Yes. Choose Reactivate User from their Actions menu.
