# Customer Settings: Discounts

Create percentage discounts that can be assigned to customers or set as a customer type's default discount.

## Before you start

- Choose a clear name for the discount and confirm the percentage to apply.

### Open Customer Discounts

Go to **Settings → Customer Discounts** under Customers.

### Add a discount

Choose **Add Customer Discount**.

### Enter the discount

Set the required **Discount Name** and **Discount Amount %**.

### Save the discount

Choose **Save Discount**.

## What happens next

The saved discount appears in the Customer Discounts list and can be selected as a default discount for a customer type.

## Common questions

**Can I apply a discount automatically to a customer type?**
Yes. Select it as the Default Discount when creating or editing a customer type.

**Are discounts set as a percentage?**
Yes. Enter the discount amount as a percentage.
