# Adding and Editing Parts

Add and maintain parts in Repair Pilot so your team can identify components, track their stock and add them to repair jobs.

## Before you start

- Decide which parts you want to track and gather their category, supplier and pricing details.
- A part needs a category and supplier before it can be saved.

1

### Open Parts

Choose **Parts** from the main navigation.

2

### Add or open a part

Choose **Add a Part** to create a record, or select a part in the list to edit it.

3

### Complete Part Information

Enter the part name and number, then choose its required category and supplier.

4

### Set inventory and pricing

Enter an SKU if used. Choose whether to manage stock and whether the part is serialised, then add the quantity, reorder value, cost price, sell price, tax rate and currency that apply.

5

### Save the part

Review the details and choose **Add Part** or save the changes.

## What happens next

The part appears in the Parts list, where you can search, sort and review its pricing, category, supplier and reorder value.

## Common questions

**Can I set a reorder value?**
Yes. Enter a Re-Order Value in the Inventory & Pricing section.

**Do I have to manage stock for every part?**
No. The form has a Manage Stock option; choose it according to how you track that part.

**Can I mark a part as serialised?**
Yes. Use the Serialised option when each unit needs to be identified individually.
